Open Enrollment

  • Each fall, the city mails out a overview of the benefits you are presently enrolled in.
  • Typically, unless you want to make changes to what you had previously selected, you do not have to do anything.
  • Login to People Soft to access open enrollment form and review your benefits

The surviving spouse, child(ren), estate, or other beneficiary may be entitled to city death benefits. However, no death benefit claim may be processed unless NERS (City Retirement Office) is notified of the passing. The City's Retirement office should be notified as soon as possible.

Required Documents
When you discuss your loved one’s account, the following documents may be required:

  • Valid Photo Identification (e.g., driver’s license)
  • Copy of Death Certificate
  • Copy of Marriage Certificate
    (Surviving spouse only)
  • Proof of Executorship
    (e.g., paperwork showing you have been appointed as Executor or Administrator of the deceased's estate)
